The lizard story

There’s a tale of slightly fussy, older woman coming to stay on her own in a tented safari camp. Over lunch she complained about a lizard in her room, but was told this was nothing to worry about – and it’d probably vanish of its own accord soon.
That afternoon after lunch, whilst most of the camp was having a siesta, she wandered out in search of one of the staff. ‘That lizard is still in my room,’ she proclaimed, with agitation, to one of the managers that she found in the dining room. He then explained that this was really nothing to worry about, as lizards often came in and out of the rooms. In fact, he elaborated, ‘it’s very good as they’re natural way of keeping the mosquito population down.’ So, she could go back and sleep, relaxed in the knowledge that it wouldn’t do her any harm at all.
Off she went, but 20 minutes later she was back again. She couldn’t sleep, claiming that the lizard was making too much noise. Unimpressed, but determined to satisfy the guest, the manager took her back to the room – only to be completely embarrassed by finding a huge monitor lizard thrashing about, trying to find a way out of the tent.
