A few minutes' walk from the lodge, Kubu's campsite is a popular site for individual private campers. Its toilets and hot showers are clean and functional, if a little institutional, but the funky egg-shaped swimming pool shows more originality. Each of the pitches has a braai stand, some also have power points and standpipes for water. They're dusty and dry, but there's ample room to pitch your tent in the shade under trees, which can be very welcome.

Nearby is a very simple open-air laundry, and four basic A-frame shelters for those who don't want to pitch a tent. Each has simply two beds with linen provided; the window is gauze.

Part of the campsite slopes steeply down to the river and it's not well lit at night, so if you eat at the restaurant make sure that you take a torch for the walk back.
