Stanley's & Budget Trips

This is a 'multi-purpose area', which is controlled by the local communities. Operations here have changed over the last few years, and a number of camps that have been planned (and even marketed) have not come into being. Specifically, note that despite being described in some travel guides, Baines' Camp has never actually existed. It was merely marketed as an idea at one stage in the early 1990s. (Gorokgwe Camp and Ivory Camp are also in this concession, but take a lower profile as they are hunting camps, in the separate, designated hunting area of NG32.)
Currently the concession is subdivided into areas for different uses. Two of these are of interest to visitors. Stanley's Camp and Grey Matters elephant project occupy one area, whilst a second is used for budget mokoro trips by many operators from Maun. Because these are such separate operations, I've described them separately below – after the natural highlights.

The camps
At the time of writing, the only upmarket camp in this area is Stanley's Camp – click on the left menu for more details of this camps.

[Editor's note: since this book was published, a new camp has opened in this area: Baines' camp.]
