Audi Camp

(campsite and pre-erected tents) P Bag 28, Maun; tel: 6860599; fax: 6860581; email: audicamp@info.bw; web: www.audicamp.bizland.com
The turn-off for Audi Camp is well signposted barely 300m south of Crocodile Camp's turning, about 12km from the centre of Maun on the road to Shorobe, Moremi and Chobe.

This is the base for Audi Camp Safaris whilst also having a shady campsite with some pre-erected tents on solid bases, which is securely fenced and patrolled at night by security guards. The tents are either bare dome tents with camp beds and no linen, for P44/66 per person sharing/single, or small Meru tents with linen included for P72/110. Camping costs P22 per person (half price for children under 12), plus P22 if you want a power point. All share clean ablutions including hot open-air showers. There a swimming pool for cooling dips, and a laundry service if you need one.

The camp has a large thatched bar and restaurant area, which serves meals and snacks all day from a bar menu, though there's also a camper's kitchen and braai stands if you prefer to cook for yourself. The camp's been working on its food, and now organises 'themed' food evenings. There's a caged parrot here if you need conversation – though the ethics of keeping such an endangered bird caged would also provide a challenging conversation with the management. Firewood can be supplied, as can ice for cool-boxes.

Audi Camp has a limited amount of camping kit for hire, and some canoes (P55 per half-day) if you want to splash around on the relatively innocuous stretch of river next to camp.

Open: all year.
