North Gate Campsite

Contact National Park's booking office
This campsite is another lovely National Park's site with only the most basic of facilities. It's situated on the south side of the Khwai River, immediately on your left as you cross into Moremi. There's a simple toilet block, a supply of fresh water, and about a dozen campsites dotted amidst wonderful, tall woodlands.
Look out in this campsite area for especially impressive specimens of sickle-leaved albezia, Albizia harveyi. Their fine leaves and flattened seed-pods might look like acacias, but trees of the Albezia family don't have thorns. You'll also find a few huge sycamore figs, Ficus sycomorus – easily spotted because of their yellow-orange bark, and a tendency for parts of their wide trunks to form buttresses. Old Africa hands will avoid camping directly under a fig tree if possible, though, as their fruits are sought after by everything from baboons and bats to elephants – any of which can make for a messy tent in the morning, and a very disturbed night's sleep.
