Oddballs Palm Island Luxury Lodge
Southeast of Delta Camp, but still beside the same Boro River, Oddballs is still thought of as a destination in the Okavango for budget travellers, even though it’s much more expensive than it was. For your money, you now have your own 2.4m by 2.4m (three-person) dome tent which stands on a raised wooden deck, surmounted by a roll of reeds for shade. Outside is a view over the Delta, inside are two camp beds, with a mattress and pillow included, and on its veranda is a small table and two stools. Unlike the backpacker’s camp of old, a stay here now includes all your meals and activities. It usually includes a first and last night at Oddballs itself, with the intervening nights camping out on the islands. Then all your camping kit and food is provided (drinks are not – you buy these separately), but you do your own cooking whilst you’re on the mokoro trail.
