Where to stay

Savuti's two luxury camps and its campsite are all close to each other. All face onto the Savuti Channel, and all are near the old bridge over the channel, just to the north of the marsh. Being a day's drive from either Kasane or Maun, most guests of the lodges fly in to Savuti's airstrip (which can take planes as large as a DC3), but visitors to the campsite usually arrive driving their own fully-equipped 4WDs, complete with all their supplies.

Stay in the area for long and you'll hear of the legendary Lloyd Wilmot and his famous camp – Lloyd's Camp. This became something of an institution here, but has sadly now closed. (Lloyd still visits occasionally, but has left the safari business.) Despite this, you'll still find books and websites that haven't caught on to this. Similarly, Allan's Camp and Savuti South were opened here (by Gametrackers) and subsequently closed – only to be combined and re-built as the Savute Elephant Camp.
