Orientation

The Savuti Channel is a (currently dry) riverbed, which starts from the Zibadianja Lagoon, at the southern tip of the Linyanti Swamps. It flows through the Linyanti Reserve, before entering the national park about 35km away. Heading east, it first cuts through a wide gap in the Magwikhwe Sand Ridge, around which are a number of low, rounded hills – the Gubatsaa Hills. There it spreads out into the Mababe Depression, forming a large marshy area known as Savuti Marsh.

This area is now dry and known as 'Savuti.' It's about 54km due east of the lagoon, and here within the Chobe National Park you'll find a campsite, two up-market lodges and several waterholes.

Maps
There are numerous small, winding roads around Savuti, relatively few landmarks and very few signs on the tracks. It's easy to become disoriented. If you want to explore the area in detail, you should have with you Veronica Roodt's excellent Chobe map and preferably also a GPS.
