Where to stay
Though Jack's Camp (and its sister-camp, San Camp) and Makgadikgadi Camp are the only camps on the pans themselves, you could also visit this area on an excursion from Planet Baobab near Gweta. This is a cheaper option, aimed at backpackers and people driving on the Nata–Maun road. Makgadikgadi Camp is marketed by, and easiest to book through, Okavango Tours and Safaris in Maun. Jack's Camp, its smaller satellite, San Camp, and also Planet Baobab can be contacted at Uncharted Africa Safari Co, PO Box 173, Francistown; tel: 241 2277; fax: 241 3458; email: unchart@info.bw; web: www.unchartedafrica.com Note that Jack's and San camps are usually reached by light aircraft from Maun; a private airstrip (GPS: SANAIR) is ten minutes' drive from camp.
