Ngoma border post

The conversion of the gravel road into tar from Namibia's Katima Mulilo to the Botswana border at Ngoma has taken years, but now it's finished. Thus you can drive from Kasane into Namibia and right across the Caprivi Strip on a good tar road.

At Ngoma, there's little there apart from the border post. Botswana's smart border post is a fairly new (mid-1990s) building, perched high above the river, almost opposite the Buffalo Ridge Campsite. Namibia has a less imposing office next to the bridge on the other side of the Chobe River, about 2km further on. Both are efficient, pleasant, and generally quiet. This crossing is fine for 2WD vehicles, and opens 06.00–18.00. As with many borders, don't be alarmed if you see the odd soldier wandering around with a gun, and don't even think about taking any pictures near the bridge without permission.
